It all started with a sailing trip around the world.

Tridentnav Systems was founded in 2004 by Rickard Berg, David Iannello, Elias Rudberg and Martin Rylander. The idea first came up during a round-the-world sailing trip on a Farr 40 -85 named XENA. The journey went from Sweden, via the Mediterranean and then following the equator west, totally around 35 000 nautical miles, 790 days and was the beginning of a good collaboration.

In August 2004 a testing project with the Swedish search-and-rescue organization was begun, and in June 2005 Tridentnav Systems' first product was available on the market.
