Tridentnav Systems navigation program Tridentnav ECS now gives access to live weather information via AIS. Wind force and direction, as well as force and direction of gusts can now be shown in the program. The information, in Sweden sent by the Swedish Maritime Administration (SMA), comes from a number of weather stations along the Swedish coast.

Tridentnav Systems monitors Volvo Ocean Race via AIS

Tridentnav Systems navigation software Tridentnav ECS can now be configured to accept AIS input via TCP/IP. The program can thus read AIS data using a standard network connection, as a complement to the information from an AIS transponder or receiver connected via serial port. Right now, the function is being used to follow the competitants in Volvo Ocean Race.
